A self-proclaimed "ardent segregationist", Judge Lemley tried the Little Rock, Arkansas school integration case (Aaron et al v. Cooper), and gave the school board a 2 1/2 year extension before integration had to be implemented. Lemley stated popular opinions were overwhelmingly in favor of his decision.
